In 1984 Devco moved the two units from Shedgum and erected them at Berri, Saudi Arabia when ARAMCO’s sulfur pelletizing plant exploded and burned. Total time from authorization to proceed until Devco’s initial operation was 43 days. Facility consistently produced over 5,000 metric tons per day of pelletized sulfur, while simultaneously recovering, remelting, purifying and pelletizing over 60,000 metric tons of contaminated sulfur. Pelletized sulfur was trucked to the Port of Jubail where Devco was responsible for stockpiling, loading ships and a limited marketing program.
